The future of entertainment distribution is in mail order on the Internet.
This is particularly true for the distribution of non-mainstream music, whose public can’t easily find what they are looking for through the conventional channels like high street record shops and major record label catalogues.
Trading on the Internet means reaching a wider audience while reducing the running costs. This enables offering the CDs and services at reduced prices while resulting in a bigger share of the profit going to the musicians, unlike the conventional situation where most of the profit is shared by distributors and record labels.
Trading on the Internet also ensures independence and freedom of expression for the artists.

RustyRobot has been created to provide an outlet for musicians who are producing artistically and culturally valuable music but would find it difficult to be signed-up by conventional record labels, due to the non commercial nature of their work.
The market for this kind of music isn’t vast and wouldn’t justify the investment typical of the record industry, nevertheless there is an audience actively seeking "different" music. Social and cultural changes underway also mean that this audience interested in non-conventional, cross-cultural music has been steadily growing over the last few years.

RustyRobot will co-produce a number of bands (sharing with them production costs and profits) as well as distributing the CDs autonomously produced by other bands, retaining a percentage on the sales. A part of this percentage will be set aside to cover the production costs of future works by the represented artists. Parallel to the music RustyRobot also offers a number of professional new-media/multimedia services related to music, culture and communication.
